Community Nurses

The District Nursing service is operated by Virgin Care and they offer a nursing service to housebound patients. All aspects of nursing care are offered, including wound management, ear syringing, palliative care, provision of equipment and advice/support for carers. They work closely with GP’s and other health professionals.

Their hours of working are 08:30 – 17:00 seven days a week, contactable through St Martin’s Hospital at weekends, on telephone number 01225 832383.

Our district nursing team provide assessment of needs and appropriate skilled nursing care to the house bound. They are responsible for the promotion of health and rehabilitation of patients as well as curative and palliative care.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitor service is operated by Virgin Care. They have a strong tradition of working with individuals, families and communities to promote health.

Our Health Visitors are involved in the promoting and health within the community. They offer health and social advice, plus support to all age groups they are based at Riverside Health Centre.

You can go straight to your named health visitor for advice and guidance on issues such as:

  • Growth and development of your baby/child
  • Childhood conditions, allergies and infections
  • Breastfeeding, bottle feeding and weaning
  • Teething
  • Post-natal depression and parental mental and physical health
  • Child behaviour issues eg sleeping, eating, tantrums
  • Support with parenting, family health and relationships

Community Midwives

The community midwives help in the running of our antenatal clinics and provide care during pregnancy, birth and after the delivery of your baby. Midwives will book their own appointments, but for any questions call the Midwife direct on 01249 456467 if your postcode is begins with BA1 OR 01761 417278 if your post code begins with BA2 or BA3.

Counsellors

Talking therapies is a service who can help you through difficult periods of your life and you can self-refer at any time.

The support they offer will generally be short term and will usually take place at various locations across BaNES.

They focus on helping you move forward, either by dealing with a practitioner face to face or by telephone.

Appointments can last 30-45 minutes and short courses are normally 2 hour weekly sessions for 6 weeks. They can run in the evenings as well as the daytime. They also run some one day Saturday Courses.

Social Prescribing

Our Wellbeing Service at Heart of Bath Medical Partnership gives you time to explore what’s important to you, and find a way forward through conversations and information.

Our Social Prescriber, Diane Girling, will discuss any issues and challenges you would like to address, to find a solution that will suit your needs. Diane will listen to your concerns, and help connect you with groups and services that can help, for everything from loneliness to money worries to housing, and more.
