Serving you

Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.

Partners in care

Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patient needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.

Patient Charter

New Patient Charter: “You and Your General Practice”

From 1 October 2025, GP practices in England are introducing a new Patient Charter called “You and Your General Practice.”

NHS England has created this charter to make it clear what you can expect from your GP practice and how you can work with us to ensure you receive the best possible care.

At Heart of Bath, we are committed to providing safe, respectful, and responsive care.

The charter outlines your rights and responsibilities as a patient, and it is a key part of the new GP contract for 2025/26. It aims to improve transparency and communication between our practice team and you.

Key Points of the Charter:

  • Access to Care: The charter clarifies how you can contact us—in person, by phone, or online via our website and the NHS App—during core hours (7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday). It also explains that our practice will respond to your requests within one working day and aims to offer same day GP /clinical appointments with specialist clinics pre bookable along with nursing appointments all prebooked for patient needs and online medical advice and guidance links readily available for patients.
  • How We Handle Your Requests: When you contact us for an appointment or medical advice, we will assess your needs and decide on the next appropriate step. This could be a same-day or future appointment if follow up required with a certain clinician , a phone consultation, a text message, or advice to visit a pharmacy or another NHS service.
  • Your Rights: The charter reaffirms your right to be treated with dignity and respect by all our staff. It also outlines your rights regarding registration (you do not need ID or a permanent address), receiving a response to your health queries, and getting extra help, such as interpreters or longer appointments if needed.
  • Your Responsibilities: To help us provide the best service, the charter asks for your cooperation. This includes treating our staff with respect, being on time for your appointments, and cancelling appointments as soon as possible if you no longer need them.
  • Feedback and Concerns: The document explains how you can share feedback or raise concerns with the practice, your local Healthwatch, or the Integrated Care Board (ICB).

How to View the Charter:

You can read the full “You and Your General Practice” document by clicking on the link below. The charter is also available on the NHS England website in multiple languages.

We encourage all our patients to read this important charter to understand how we can best work together to support your health and well-being.

Publication of Earnings

All GP practices are required to declare the mean net earnings (eg. Average pay) for GPs
working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice. This is required in the interests of
the greater public accountability recognising GP pay is ultimately funded from tax paid by the
public.

The average pay for GPs working in Heart of Bath in the last financial year was
£40116 before tax and national insurance.

This is for 1 full time GP, 12 part-time GPs and 5 locum GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.
